Vinyl lovers we hope you’ve been exercising those nimble collector's fingers in readiness for Record Store Day (RSD) this year on Saturday 21stApril. This is an exclusive day across the U.K where over 200 independent record shops celebrate the U.K vinyl culture.
In our blog this month we've highlighted some "Record Store Day" events that will be happening at a record store near you, so that you can catch some live performances and get your hands on those limited edition vinyl releases exclusively pressed for Record Store Day. Get out there and support your local record store, we know we will be!
Soul Proprietors -Brixton
These guys will be hosting a BBQ and drinks all day with live dj's Oliver Sudden and Tom Central on the decks. Also a Jazz lovers delight- U.K Jazz group “Ill Considered” will be performing live in their garden from 7pm, free entry.
Rough Trade East- Brick Lane
"Go big or go home" is Rough Trade’s moto with Hinds, Little Simz and James Lavelle headlining their celebrations for Record Store Day. They also have 500 exclusive Record Store Day releases available in store, including a special Transparent Red and Cream Coloured Vinyl release of Hinds “I Don’t Run”.
Vinyl Revolution, Duke Street, Brighton
Vinyl Revolution will be celebrating their first Record Store Day this year and all their neighbouring shops on Duke Street are getting in on Records Store Day to show their support. Doors open at 8am, with live music starting at 1pm including Dirt Royal, White Room and Mudlow. The BBC will be broadcasting live from the store window and all the music that will be played will be on vinyl.
Eastern Block Records, Manchester
We love their moto “12” is for life not just for Record Store Day” The celebrations begin at 9am with live Djs until 2am covering a diverse selection of music from Jazz, Latin to Jungle and Reggae. Entry is free.
81 Renshaw, Liverpool
A great record store that triples up as a Bar and Venue. They will be celebrating Record Store Day from 8am with over 500 exclusive releases, including imports from USA. Bacon butties will be dished out from 8am and there are special offers for the first 40 customers in the door. Live music starts at 1pm with “Lo-Five”, “Kiren Mahon”, “Seafoam Green” and “Thom Moorcroft”.
Love Music, Glasgow
These guys will be selling limited edition Record Store Day releases with live music from "Colonel Mustard & Dijon 5", "Solar Eye", "Fallen Arches", and "The Beat Poets" as well as DJs Tom Rafferty and Stevie Watt from "Hustlin" providing the sound track to the day. Cakes and Tea and Coffee will also be on tap for the early birds in the queue.
